On entering the 21st century, the trend of economy's globalization is developing quickly. The construction of healthy and harmonious cities has become a clear theme. Cities are symbols of modern civilization, as well as centers of economy, politics, science and technology, and education. Cities also play an important role in investment, technology, innovation, economic growth and employment by tertiary industry. Building a sustainable city has become one of the important missions for every municipal government.
Currently there are 661 cities in China. With the progressing of urbanization, some urban communities like Pearl River Delta, Areas around Bohai Sea, North-East Traditional Industrial Base, and Western Area have been formed. It is estimated that in 10 years the number of Chinese cities will exceed 1,000.
However, Chinese cities are facing tremendous unprecedented challenges. There are problems of large population, limited land resources, lack of urban planning, industrial planning and regional planning that is of advantageous and competitive core competency. Cities are developed unscientifically due to blindly going after larger scales, which resulted in destroying the local historical and human environment as well as natural environment and thus has led to a waste of resources. Together with the unsmooth financial channels for infrastructure facilities, all the above mentioned problems have become a bottleneck for Chinese cities' development.
According to WTO requirement, the grace period for Chinese financial sector to be opened to foreign investment has been due since December 11, 2006. The Chinese financial market is ready to open and Chinese cities have entered a new stage of developing themselves by cooperating with foreign investment.
To go for a sustainable and scientific development for Chinese cities based on the principles of step by step, saving of land, and scientific layout, and to increase their comprehensive competency,"The First China International City Property Investment and Development Fair" will be held from Oct. 30-Nov. 1, 2008 in China International Exhibition Center (New Venue) in Beijing.
The Fair will be focusing on real estate, finance, architecture construction, building materials and related industries. The Fair will create a platform between Chinese cities and international societies to exchange information in city planning, city construction, city property financing and investment, and city's environmental protection, and promote the cooperation between Chinese cities and international resources.
We firmly believe that"The First China International City Property Investment & Development Fair" will become the most professional and largest in scale event in Chinese city property industry.
